Polylactic Acid - Sculptra

Indications

Sculptra is a different, minimally invasive cosmetic procedure that restores the volume of problematic areas, e.g. skin wrinkles, wrinkles and wrinkles due to natural aging. The result is a firmer, naturally smoother face with minimal invasive procedures. Sculptra is a synthetic injection material known as poly-L-lactic acid.

How does Sculptra work?

Unlike other products that use dermal fillers to temporarily correct skin imperfections, Sculptra is thought to naturally stimulate the body to produce its own collagen, resulting in a more natural, youthful look that lasts up to 2 years. Sculptra is injected into the hypodermis in areas where fat and volume have been lost. Sculptra, stimulating collagen production, lifts, smoothes and tightens the skin gradually. The results appear naturally and gradually after each application. Although Sculptra does not address the underlying causes of fat loss in the face, it improves its appearance by tightening the skin at the points of treatment.

Are the results with Sculptra immediately visible?

Sculptra works progressively, naturally stimulating the body's collagen production, thus tightening the skin and delivering long lasting results. Evaluation is needed after 4-6 weeks to determine if further applications are needed. Sculptra is a "fill" injectable treatment that is believed to stimulate collagen production to smooth lines and wrinkles and recover lost facial volume, providing a firmer, youthful appearance.

How many applications are needed?

How long are the results with Sculptra?

The results are different for each person. In many cases these can last up to 2 years. Small corrective applications may be needed to maintain the desired results.

Do Sculptra injections hurt?

Sculptra injections only cause a slight discomfort. Sculptra is injected into the skin in very small quantities, using a very fine needle. For greater comfort, your doctor may give you local anesthesia in the area of treatment prior to injections.

How long does a treatment session last?

Each Sculptra session typically lasts about 20-30 minutes, depending on the number of areas to be treated and the results you want to achieve.

Are there any side effects from using Sculptra?

Sculptra is a minimally invasive procedure applied in the field of cosmetic plastic surgery since 1999. The product is completely biocompatible and biodegradable. Sculptra is made from a material called poly-L-lactic acid, which has been widely used for over three decades. With all types of injections, the risk of infection is reduced. Side effects from Sculptra are usually transient and minor in severity and may be redness, slight bruising, bleeding, small blisters, tenderness, pain or edema. Also palpable but invisible small patches may appear under the skin of the treated area. Occasionally, they go away on their own. Visible blisters have also been reported, in some cases accompanied by redness, in the treated area. Report any unexpected side effects to your attending plastic surgeon.
