Botox

Indications

Once administered botox blocks the nerve impulses (acetylcholine receptor binding) to the facial muscles responsible for the expression wrinkles. This prevents their contraction by forcing them to be relatively inactive. When the muscles inactivate, the skin that covers them remains soft and wrinkle-free, while the unaffected muscles continue to contract normally, allowing normal facial expression. Botox does not abolish facial expression and muscle mobility. It just softens the expression wrinkles. Proper technique can achieve a slight elevation of the eyebrows, making our eyes more relaxed. Botox is also applied to the lower jaw area (Nefertiti Lift) and neck to improve facial contours and reduce relaxation due to the effect of gravity. Finally, keep in mind that botox can help reduce the symptoms of migraine and headaches.

In which areas does it apply?

Botox is mainly applied to the upper third of the face. The most common corrections are in the horizontal front lines, in the middle of the eyebrow (between the eyebrows), and in the side wrinkles of the eyes (or also known as the "crows feet). Although it can be done around the mouth and chin, it usually "weakens" the smile. Smile lines, nasal wrinkles, facial discoloration and other facial conditions associated with aging are usually treated with the use of fractional laser CO2, injectable implants (hyaluronic acid, liquid lifting, polygalactic acid). , stem cells, fat transplantation), mesotherapy and application of Thermage monopolar radiofrequency (non-surgical facelift).

How is it done?

The process is simple and safe. Botox is injectable via a very fine needle. Depending on the area, 4-10 injections are usually required. Because the needle is extremely thin and the amount of fluid injected is very small, the pain is almost imperceptible, something like a light bite for a few seconds. Because you do not need any kind of local anesthesia you can return to your activities immediately after surgery. In rare cases, a slight bruise or redness may occur at the injection site. But this is temporary and can be covered with makeup.

How long does it last?

The effects of botox are visible after 3-7 days of administration, and the effect lasts for 3-6 months, which means the body needs to metabolize it.
